A Friendship Story

A friend of mine forwarded this to me and I thought it was a good story to share, as we all go through this at one point or another in our lives. It is sad, but a true fact....that not all people you consider your friend are true friends, but you live life and continue to learn and grow, and those that are true friends know. Enjoy!

"A FRIENDSHIP STORY"

Friends in need, real friends and fairweather friends
'A friend in need, is a friend indeed' is a popular saying, implying that people become friends when they need something from you. Whilst this can indeed be true, the reverse is also significant. When you are in need, then you find out who are your real friends.

An acquaintance found out recently that she has a chronic medical condition. Nothing visible and nothing to stop her living a normal life, but something that will occasionally flare up and cause discomfort. She also found out something of the difference between real and fairweather friends.

She informed them simply because she is an open and honest person. There was no seeking of particular help. Perhaps a little sympathy, but no special treatment or additional attention. When she told some friends, they responded with concern. They listened without asking anything in return. They asked how they could help. These were real friends.

Others, who she also believed to be friends of the same sort, responded first with selfish concerns. They asked if it was infectious in any way or that might somehow catch it. Then they melted away, despite reassurance of their safety.

Fairweather friends are those who are most likely to appear when they are in need or, at best, when you are not in need. Real friends don't care about your need. They will help where they can and know that it's ok if they can only offer a little sympathy.

This must be something like what it is to have cancer, HIV or AIDS. Those who were friends when all was well suddenly show their true colors, whilst some from the core and some from the periphery fly the true flag of friendship, offering and giving what help they can.

Gotta Love the Easter Bunny

This is my kind of Easter Bunny. Who needs a basket, I'll take a beer. For those of you who celebrate, HAVE A WONDERFUL EASTER WEEKEND!!!!!! For those of you who don't, we can still take some valuable lessons away from our furry little friend above. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Miss Jillie and I will be heading to a Pardes game on Saturday night with "R" and another friend. Miss Jodi will be headed back to lovely SD on Friday (have a safe flight home) so the weekend looks very promising. All of you have fun, be safe, eat some chocolate bunnies and I'll see you in bloggerland on Monday.

HUGS!!! Lisa

Yeah ok, so maybe I'm not as bad as this poor hound, but drinking on Monday nights are a definite no no. I went out with a friend last night; we went to the San Diego Brewing Company. Cool place w/alot of great beers to sample..actually too many good beers to sample. We chit-chatted from around 6:30ish to 11:30ish downing a beer here, there and everywhere while in the process. You know that old saying that mom use to give "not on a school night", that still applies now as a 29 year old in the work force. I've learned my lesson (for this month anyway...hahaha), no more drinking on school nights. So now I will suffer the consequences for the rest of the day until I can happily plunge into my warm cozy bed and sleep it off this evening. I hope everyone has a great day!!!!

WEDNESDAYS

Ok for today's blog I decided to combine two of my favorite things, my love for hump days since the weekends is right around the corner (especially when you are on summer hours like I, and you get off on Fridays at 12:00pm...I'm not bragging or anything....yeah, I really am :) and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean (not sure why really since he acts a little feminie sometimes, but man does he look good in those leather pants)..ROWR!!! The new trailer for "At World's Edge" looks fabulous! Combine the two together and you get the above; so happy hump day folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JOB REFLECTION

Ok, so take this picture and throw a long straight brown wig on him and picture me today. I'm in that time of the year where work sucks! It is boring and tedious, but busy nonetheless, just not in a good way. And we all go through it, but I'm just grateful for this forum so I can vent about it. Though my friends here in SD hear about it enough as it is (Jillie, Jodes, and Dani)..hehehe. For those of you who don't know what I do (which that would be most since I haven't really mentioned it before), I am the Associate Director for the San Diego County Combined Federal Campaign. It is the once a year federal campaign for all military, federal, and postal personnel. Here in SD it is huge and during campaign season I am busy as all hell (in a good way), training voluntolds (as we say in the military...oh, I'm a former Marine Officer...so that's why I still say we), public speaking, campaign kick-offs, materials pack-out etc.. From August through December it is a blur of activity. January-July..tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock. Days go by slow and I am buried under a mountain of paper work in preparation for the next campaign.

So what am I getting at here you might ask??? Not to much other then getting in my god given right to whine and moan about it, but in a positive way. I really love my job; I just want more excitement and I am not patient enough to wait for it, but the complaining helps sooo
thanks everyone for listening to me unload. Much happier blog on Wednesday :) Happy Tuesday (or happy Monday night if you look at this now) either way, Oh Happy Day!!!!!!!!!!!
