"DANCE LITTLE GIRL"

Dance little girl to the tune in your heartAnd the smiles of your mother and dad,And your friends looking on-Who are thrilled with the songThat bubbles from someome glad.Dance little girl- little boy standing byIs shy- and wants to be bold.Take his hand little girl-Understand little girl,The treasures more precious than gold.Dance little girl- for all in this world,Dance wherever you go.Lift your head little boy-Never dread little boy-Dance - and on with the show.

Final Exam....Oh No!!!!!!

Well all, just when I thought it was over.....BAM!!!!! I got hit with the news at Monday's dance class. We have to take a final exam on July 1st before they determine who will get offered jobs. As if the 3 months of intense dance, showcases, dance parties and competitions were'nt enough :( Oh well, I knew it was going to be a challenge. The final though, is pick a dance out of a hat and be able to teach all aspects of it. i.e.,

- Both men and women's parts
- counts
- history
- music
- steps
- choreograph routine on spot and teach it.

I think it will be pretty tough being that we learned 11 different dances. Wish me luck...... Don't forget anyone in the local area wishing to try out for the next instructor program it is June 27, 2006. Check out info at

Cheek2Cheek Studios

These are some pics of Cheek2Cheek dance Studio, which I am taking my dance instructor program at. It's located at 909 Grand AvenueSan Diego, CA 92109(Pacific Beach). It was a total accident how I stumbled upon this opportunity. Basically, I just wanted to take a ballroom dance class. I went to the studio to get info and found out that they were having auditions for a dance instructor program. If you made it in, you were offered the chance to learn pretty much every ballroom dance for free and then have a shot at being offered a job with the studio upon completion of the program. Well friends, I should know by the end of this month if I will have an instructor position with them. This is a great studio, with great people. The owners, Susan and Pierre Tinel are pro dancers and have been doing ballroom for years. If you live in the San Diego area, I would encourage you to check the studio out. They have beginners, intermediate, and advanced classes, group and private. Also for anyone interested, they are starting another Dance Instructor Program in July with auditions June 27. You can get all info at there website link www.cheek2cheek.net. Have a great day!!!

The East Coast Swing

The very popular East Coast Swing is characterized by an up-tempo, carefree, relaxed style that is easily adaptable to a wide range of tempos from moderately slow to very fast music. Often known as the Jitterbug, the Swing with its fun spins and intricate patterns is a very versatile dance going equally well with Big Band (Glenn Miller - In the Mood), rock-and-roll (Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock) , many Motown songs, top 40 hits, and all time favorite 'Rock Around The Clock'. Whatever your music preference, swing is one of the most exciting partner dances you will ever learn!

Just a brief history on a very fun and exciting dance. I will be performin the East Coast Swing at a pro ballroom dance competition Saturday June 10, 2006 in San Diego, CA. This is my first competition and needless to say the adrenaline will be pumping. I have an awesom partner named Adrian and we are ready "to cut the rug" so to speak. EC Swing can be performed utilizing a single step move or a triple step. Adrian and I will be doing a triple step for our competition. The determination of the step is usually based on the music or the complexity of the choreography. This dance is in my opinion, the most fun out of the "American Rhythm" dances. As a female, if you have a strong partner, it's best to just sit back and enjoy the ride! Comments and discussion are welcomed.
